Alaska Day 8

Happy real 30th Birthday Alex!!!

We prepared for our last hike out and I have to say, each of our bags were a few pounds lighter as we finally learned to take the bare minimums. The trail was gorgeous this day. Waterfalls, wildlife and best of all - no rain! The cabin had a small metal boat and we again tried to catch some fish but no luck.

When we arrived at the cabin, there was a helicopter landing. We thought maybe someone famous had been flown in to the cabin. It was actually the forest service replacing some propane tanks. When the helicopter got close to the ground by the cabin, the air temp dropped dramatically and you could see your breath. All of our gear went flying of course but it was really cool to see it that close up.

That night, Tom, Alex and I stayed up for Alex's official 30th birthday party. They made a "vegas bar" with headlamps and mini liquor bottles. It was fun!
