Saturday morning - we woke up around 5:30 to get off the ferry in Sitka. So Sitka is a small island outside of Juneau that used to be the capital of Russia. You can imagine how much is open on Saturday morning in Sitka, AK at 5:30 - nothing. Fortunately our hotel was and so was another hotel with breakfast. It was kind of eery to walk around a town that early in the morning. The sun had just come up and there were no people, cars or noise of any kind. We walked the town and visited a fish hatchery, totem poll park, the beach and the farmers market. It was interesting to be at the farmers market - much different than downtown Juneau - no touristy stuff. All the people there were local and just seemed at ease with life.
